Hi,
Looks like I'm going to have to put in yet another late night of AI programming and Access database designing. Oh the wonders of 24 hour computer labs
Can I have a octuple caffinated please, I'm going to need something to keep me awake, I've been at this since 9am this morning.

Ah Croz, it's bad but you'll get over it. I've done late-night programming sessions from time to time, although not AI ones... Perl mostly. Ick.
No doubt I'll have to put in a late night or two on my Tcl/Tk coursework as well because it's pretty icky.

It's not only AI. I've been asked to solve a problem with my groups Database project. The problem its tha the who built is decided to mix text and autonumber public keys.
*gets another heavily caffinated *
what makes me feel worse is that you can't have real and in the 24hr lab

That's awful! You should always stick to the same type for all your keys...
And as for the lab food policy, we have that too, except our CompSci lab isn't open 24hour or at the weekend! So people without computers in their rooms and network access need to use the university-wide computer rooms, from where it is harder to access the required software for Computer Science, specifically the automated marking system for the introductory Java modules. You can get all the UNIX software through remote X sessions, but none of the Win2000 stuff (the University machines are still running Win98. CompSci and ACS don't get on all that well, mostly because ACS are still using NetWare).

The compsci lab isn't open 24 hours, I'm in with everyone else on the standard NT4 network. Can still access my compsci profile via the wonders of ftp though, which is handy for getting work but next to useless for running stuff.
Looking at the compsci network it's a bit rubbish. they were supposed to put win2k, office2k and oracle on the network and they never did. would have made things a lot easier (database was half done in access2k, and then converted to visual basic in order to work in access97. i don't think that's helped).

No, probably not. We've only got Office on a few of the machines, although they all have Word 2000 and the viewers for the other apps. That's because Office costs too much and most of us don't need it - the documentation lab has it though.
Our network's pretty groovy, but that's probably because with the move to the new campus they had to re-do everything. Rumour has it they're due to upgrade the workstations and maybe one or two of the UNIX boxes this summer.
