ok, just read you article, and a very visual one it is i must say
i have heard of this bungee jumping and must say that i have never had the courage to attempt it......
there is just something about willingly jumping from solid ground into midair many feet away from solid ground that turns me into stone and refuses to let me move......

You are correct, it is a strange thing to do but statistically it is safer than driving a car which of course is another "unnatural" thing for a human to do.
All the people gathered around the jumping off point do a loud countdown. 3-2-1 and then you dive off the bridge. This, with the peer pressure, seems to help.
Some people have difficulty diving off high dive-boards into swimming pools, for others it is a breeze. We are all different I suppose.

i get the shakes on the lowboard of a diving board LOL!!
guess it would be quite a sight to see if i were to attempt the jump from a bridge anchored only by a large rubber band!!

I must say that sound like a lot of fun. sadly here in the United States operators are not nearly so well regulated, also there is somthing about giving up all control like that ::shiver:: that sounds wors than sky diving.

Third asst. eng, maybe when you are sailing around the world your ship will stop in New Zealand and you can have a try here?
A few of the people I went bungee jumping with have gone on to do tandem sky diving - the novice shares the experts parachute - I chickened out

That would be very cool, Visiting NZ that is. Someday I shall go sky diving if for no outher reason than my dad did and it wouldnot \do to let him be more fooli,...I mean brave than me.

Mysteriously, sky-diving is on my 'list of things I'd like to do before I die' list (it's not very long). Bungee jumping, on the other hand, is on the 'things that might be cool -- for someone else' list.

White-water rafting will probably be my next "adventure".
Some fool was talking about it at the pub the other night

Whitewater rafting is something else I'd like to try once. And it's one of the few things I don't have to drive forever to find a place to do it... although they charge thrice what it's worth.

i have two teenage girls that i have to start teaching to drive so i think that is about all of the adventure i can handle at the moment...i figure if i survive that i might go on to try other thrills

Like what? Being shot out of a cannon? (A -real- one, that is. ) What else could top what you're about to attempt?

What an awesome experience! I laughed so much my side hurts!
Hail to you, Looneytunes for an adventuresome nature!!
It sounds like a blast! Or something incredibly stupid to try!!
It's going on my 'to do' list. After sky diving, of course.
I used to be afraid of heights, then my brother talked my into climbing a fire tower.
From there it was rock climbing and repeling.
lot's of fun!

I must agree with Luna (and not because we're related) Looney. The thought of jumping off of anything with just
a cord around my midsection or ankles to keep me from spilling what little brains I have remaining on the ground
makes my stomach quiver!!!!! You've got guts!!!!!

Whitw water rafting where when how much? I went once and had an absolute blast. next time it's whitewater kyaking for me. But I really do recomend rafting there are some very good guide operations established with strerling safty records. I found it, while a rush, to be too comercilized and myself to be too much a passenager to really enjoy it. hence kyacking.

Me personally would prefer to stand in front of an audience of thousands of people all waiting to hear me play and sing...
For me that tops BungeeJumping...we all get our thrills somewhere else I guess...
