The reason I feel quite sure about going down is this:
The princess told us in her telepathic message that it was cold and dark where she was, and that we should remember where the Black Knight came from. The Black Knight said he came from the deep dark dungeons, soooo... I guess it's just a matter of putting 2 and 2 together and not getting 5...
