Asteroid Lil - Offstage Presence Posted Jun 30, 2000
Nobody ever dies in h2g2.
My son Billy the Kid was brilliant at the polka.
I'm turning in, everybody. Have Ook bus the tables in a few hours, before the Brits come in for breakfast. I'll see you in 8.

Er, Lil...what exactly was that little skeleton next to her pot, when it still had living tissue attached to it?

Odradek (she who lurks, green Lifesaver-like) Posted Jun 30, 2000
'Night, Lil. lf l do build a death ray, l promise to keep it quiet, and put some old newspaper down to keep from making a mess...

Congrats (I believe), Odra. I do beleive, given your zest and enthusiasm, you will indeed stand your ground and represent yourself in good stead. When will you be leaving?
Lil, will the expedition be on Local Access tv or will there be some other method or locale a neophyte such as I can observe their adventures?

*rushes in*
Did I just see Lil leaving? If I hadn't spent the last half hour reading backlog...
IIEM, anti-coffee, please. *gets coffee and plops down in chair*
So I missed all the excitement with the jello handlers! Last time I was here, Odradek was still poking away at it.
The Shakespeare Festival started previews last night, and has its grand opening Friday night, and I've been working day and night on it, so I haven't had time to stop by the café much.
How's everyone doing?
*takes sip of anti-coffee, starts to nod, and then looks up suddenly, starts to nod again.*

Odradek (she who lurks, green Lifesaver-like) Posted Jun 30, 2000
Sigh. Poor Jello. They've whisked her away to CLI, now, and Affi's got her in the fridge, in isolation, for some purpose none dare puzzle over. But at least l can visit her. Plus, with my highly specialized skills (read: tendency towards chaos), l've been picked to go portal-spelunking, which should be An Adventure, if nothing else. You may want to nip over to that thread, Redbeard, actually. l don't know how busy you are, but l think Lil wanted to enquire if you were interested in joining up, but what with the Shakespearean madness, you may have an awful lot on your plate already... Still...http://www.h2g2.com/F32669?thread=54167&post=455726 You can skip pretty much to the bottom, really. Lil's second-to-last posting.

*sheepishly* Oooops. Hadn't noticed Lil's departure what with the noise from the tv and all. *turns volume waaay down*
I do hope though, you will try to keep your exuberence reined in a bit during your travels. I noticed Lil did not preclude being maimed or horrendously tickled. I have become quite comfortable and fond of you in your current incarnation and like you just the way you are. It does sound like great fun though and if a death ray is needed, so be it.
Aroma Cafe Fri 30 June 2000
Odradek (she who lurks, green Lifesaver-like) Posted Jun 30, 2000
Hee. According to Lil, no one ever dies here, so maybe a horrendous-tickling ray would be a good and acceptable substitute for deadly force, you know.
Wanna volunteer to try it out, jr?
Aroma Cafe Fri 30 June 2000
Redbeard (Thanks to all who supported The Celery!)) Posted Jun 30, 2000
Thanks, Odradek. Yes, I followed poor Jello's trials And isolation is important... there's the celery, you know.
And I have heard talk about your 'highly specialized skills'
Oddly enough, with the opening of the Shakespeare Festival, my life gets easier. It's all the preparation. The 60 page program guide I designed is now back from the printers. All the photography I've been doing has made its way to prints for the press, the museum exhibit I created is hung, and I just have to life through Friday's zoo. Not only are we starting the season, but opening a brand new theatre. Wonderful theatre that we've been working toward for 10 years or more. But for the opening, we have to endure a host of VIPs who never cared about Shakespeare 'til now, but will congratulating each other at the dedication ceremony, on stage and taking all the credit, while the ones who did it all stand at the back and watch. Ahhh, but the next day, it's ours again.

Odradek (she who lurks, green Lifesaver-like) Posted Jun 30, 2000
Actually...jr? You know, there's maybe a role you could play in this caper, too. l'll ask Lil about it tomorrow, because l don't really have the authority, but if we could have you on standby in the cafe, it would be great to have you in charge of our emergency escape plan. lf all truly goes awry, and we can't get back -- or out of any scrape we might be in -- if we had you here, you could just order us via the llEM, and make us rematerialize here. l'll ask Lil. lf, of course, you'd not object...

Mmmm... this is relaxing. IIEM, another anti-coffee, please.
*gets coffee, goes to back table, takes a sip*
Ah, yes, that's good.

Ho, Redbeard. Thanks again for the goodnews/badnews re:my home. Ah, well. Very considerate of you to help, given your schedule and all that is happening right now.
*sheepish (theres that word again[do sheep really ever look anything but stupid]) grin*
Odra, it would give me great pleasure to guard your escape route (Run away! Run away!) if it's all right with Lil and the rest of the participants. Neophyte status could be tooo high a hurdle to surmount a.t.t., tho. If such is the case that is ok too. Thank you for asking.
About the tickle raygun, alright, if you promise to start at lowest setting and promise to stop before loss of body function control.
*peering about furtively*
Actually, what with all the hub-bub and such as you were flurriing about at the CLI I peeked in and before I could stop myself (not that I am actually able to) I suggested Cheez-Wiz for the celery. Ah,well.
B4 anyone could react I blazed out of there. Hope Lil doesn't get embarrassed or mad about it.
Aroma Cafe Fri 30 June 2000
Odradek (she who lurks, green Lifesaver-like) Posted Jun 30, 2000
Hee. Everyone's quite friendly, jr. Needn't fret about it at all. After all, what goes better with celery than dip? And is not Cheez-wiz an epitome of dip?
l wonder what their campaign platform will be?

*mumbles*
Huh?
Oh, Hi jr! Good to see you!
Hmmm. where'd... blanket? Oh. Thanks, Odradek.
*pulls up blanket and falls back asleep*

jr52 (ting-a-) Posted Jun 30, 2000
Thanks for the reminder but, I think I'll still tread lightly around Lil a bit. My behaviour at the CLI could quite easily be considered boorish.
Anyway, they might want to use "Eat things with faces.", or "If you don't like what we do just EATME!" The 2d one would give me pause as it caused Alice to go thru some seerious changes. Then agan, pills or appitizers that can make you smaller or larger may be good to have on your trip(so to speak). Take them with you! Surely by the time you leave they will have made peace with Delores.

*stands up, grinning broadly*
l'm going to make some campaign buttons!
*energetically bounds to the door, and pauses*
l should be back...erm...hm. Dunno. Hope to see you two...but if not, have a good relavent time setting, and l'll see you all at the next relavent time setting...
*ji-jinng-jingle*

*speaking towards the door*
Bye, Odra....
*shakes head in wonderment*
How does she maintain that level of energy?
*rises and quietly repositions Redbeard's cup, adjusts blanket, and gives Digi a petting stroke*
Hope all goes well at the show, Redbeard. Enjoy your new toy. Please, tidy up, ook.
*muffles bells as exits*

Looks like people have cleared out.
I guess I should be going as well.
