God, you're impassioned. What are your thoughts on Buffy? This might just spark some fireworks (no pun intended).

I wonder why the fans of the movie and the fans of the show aren't necessarily one and the same, and why there's even a show there in the first place. How many movies get made into(popular) shows?

Its all to do with the script. Joss Whedon wrote it but Fran Kuzui (sp?) directed it and the whole thing got twisted. However, those who had seen the original script knew it was hot property and so when a TV series was suggested it was easy to have it made (although not so easy to have it picked up, hence the shortness of S1). Anyway, that's the short story, there are a lot more details. Also, I think lovers of the TV show are loyal to Joss and don't like the movie because it veers from his (and therefore their vicarious) vision. Or I could have just taken the train to analytical land...
PS the real stumper is how Kuzui ended up on the TV crew as well...

So I take it you're not much of a Buffy aficionado then, hmmm?
Wow
El Presidente Posted Mar 20, 2000
Are you, as it seems most of the Buffy fans I know are, obsessed with that Angel guy, David Borawhatever?
Wow
Archangel Tweetie (01/06/02...) Posted Mar 20, 2000
Boreanaz (still can't work out how to pronounce it *g*). But nope, I mean, I like the guy but
a) I far prefer Xander and
b) I don't get obsessed with TV guys!
Its the show I really love and I like all the characters pretty much equally.

I seem to be the only one who hasn't caught the bug for some sort of either teen-geared or Aaron-spelling-produced hour-long drama. I am wondering why this is.
Wow
Archangel Tweetie (01/06/02...) Posted Mar 21, 2000
Well, Buffy isn't really Aaron Spelling like at all. But you know, not everyone loves these teen drama-comedy-romance things. Check me out, I wasn't defensive at all. Guess I'm getting better then!

El Presidente Posted Mar 21, 2000
Getting better...does that imply that the thorough enjoyment of Buffy is, in fact, a disease?
Wow
Archangel Tweetie (01/06/02...) Posted Mar 21, 2000
Ha ha. But with sarcasm.
No I meant that I get all defensive when someone even vaguely disparages the show. In not doing that to you, I'm getting better.

Ok, I'm just about to get buried in confusement here. So, subject change- what do you like on TV if not the teen com-drams?
Wow
El Presidente Posted Mar 22, 2000
Well, so far as I've seen, you either like it or hate it: That 70's Show. Did you know that the first bunch of episodes were aired on USA like a billion times under different names until it was bought by Fox? I actually remember seeing it and remarking that, although EYE liked it, I knew it would never stick. I don't know WHY I knew it would never stick(but I was right).

Ah hah- an American. We got a British version of That 70s Show over here called... whoops I forgot, it was that bad. So basically, whenever I hear the name of that show I am forced to make gagging noises with the memory of it...
Wow
El Presidente Posted Mar 23, 2000
...and as you may or may not know, we have an AMERICAN version of Whose Line is it Anyway?(it's on tonite!) which is basically identical to the original except for the quick-speaking Clive Anderson, who(I assume) is just too English for the moronic redneck gun-toting freaks that populate most of this country(American pride!). Being a fan of(are you guys like totally sick of them yet?) Monty Python, I am one of the few people who actually gets(are you guys sick of this too?) "British Humour"(look at that spelling! Wow!). Anyhoo, just sit back and let all of those parenthesis sink in.

Right, ok getting head round that little mess.
Speaking of Monty Python, I'm just starting work on the mother of all emails (not really)! You know those ones where you scroll down and the words to funny little things like swerve and cross over. Except this time, I'm doing it with the lyrics to the spam sketch! The idea came to me as I was idly fiddling with my calculator's writing capabilities one day. But I need somewhere with all the lyrics- any ideas?
Hey (are you sick of this one yet?) I guess that means you do have irony over there... *g*

I have(not own, I "borrowed" them from my friend Jay and just havent given them back, me being the MUCH BIGGER Python fan, I think I deserve them) the set of two books entitled "Monty Python: All the Words" in which is contained the scripts to every sketch. Needless to say, I have always wanted to get together a bunch of idiots and actually DO these sketches, but I know very few impassioned, obsessed, willing-to-do-Python-in-front-of-people-who-don't-care Pythonites. Oh well.

No, street theatre! How great! Do it. Oh please do it and then stick the pictures on a website! Ha ha ha- just the thought is making me laugh so much. I'd love to see that!
Wow
El Presidente Posted Mar 24, 2000
So would I. Except theres just one thing I need to reinforce here:
NO ONE WANTS TO DO IT!
Oh, believe me, EYE do. I've figured out that whatever carreer I go into, it'll be entertainment of some kind. Unfortunately, I can't say the same for anyone I know, really. As previously stated: Oh well.
