I probably should have commented in the AWW stage, but you seemed to be getting good advice from closer cousins.
What I read then was a poignant but flawed piece, with a beautifully crafted beginning. Its weakness, for me at least, was a confusing (and therefore distracting) ending.
Now it's perfect.
Have you really reworked this in a single week? If so, I'm jealous. You're obviously that rare thing, an erudite writer who knows just how much to say.

I'm really bad about commenting on pieces when I read them. I'll try to do better. But I read your articles and poems when I come across them and enjoy them enormously.

I sat down and did the first draft in about 3 hours. Then I reworked it, spending about three hours again. It just seemed to come together.

A deal was made that H could edit it from when it went beyond her control (grave, perhaps more suiting?) so we could feature it for Halloween.
