John Otway, dead??? 'fraid not Peta, he's very much alive and kicking and selling out more shows that you can shake a stick at. He's also now a TWO hit wonder - Bunsen Burner reached No.9 in 2002 thanks to his loyal fanbase, followed by a sell-out show at The London Palladium. For 2006 he's planning a World Tour - USA, Tahiti, Australia, Middle East and Europe - complete with his own plane!

Good idea for a Guide Entry. But not a good idea for an Edited Guide Entry. It's too difficult to update, and it would never be possible to be the definitive list of Dead Bands. The Edited Guide is for the Definitive Article.

I agree after all my first band Alisté didn't dent the musically stratosphere but I still get the occasional royality for one of the songs we wrote together 18 years aog.

I agreeing with the said. Also there's some lots of personal experiences in this Entry.
Gnomon: Many Entries in the EG are based on incomplete lists - mostly those collaborative Entries. Not all Entries are *that* definitive. Also, h2g2 itself is auto-updating and WIP forever...
However, just as an idea of how such an auto-updating Entry could be conceived:
Write a nice little Entry explaining what would be considered a dead band, or a one-hit wonder, or those that almost, but not entirely, got there. To illustrate that give some examples. Another section could explain why so many bands fail and fade out. Then add the invitation to post.
Anyways.... On second thought maybe the idea is not so good.

I suspect this is a case of someone pushing that 'Submit for Review' button without working out what happens next. I also suspect this would need a heckuva lot of work to get into shame
