Mort - a middle aged Girl Interrupted Posted Jan 19, 2004
Spelugx may have to add Loup, Vick and Joe C into the catchment where he gets his stats. not sure if it does it automatically.
Another thing - generally the page updates every 4 hours, so if it hasn't updated for 3 and a half hours then alot of those on the unaced list may have actually been done since the last update. I always try to do it just after an update

That could be the lot that appeared after i checked [some of] the numbers earlier on....
I think my ACEings registered... but as i said i haven't checked all of them... Still, nice to know that we don't have 72+ unaced Newbies...

it certainly is a much better system then the old one - where used to have to check all researchers that had posting made to them - ace or otherwise. Since there was no way to tell them apart it ment that for a week there would be hundreds!

Spelugx the Beige, Wizard, Perl, Thaumatologically Challenged Posted Jan 19, 2004
I'll go and nuke my cache of who's an ace. The software will then autorecheck. I was going to do some magic with and article previews when I wrote the code, but unfortunately *someone* had broken it at the time. This is still on the (fictional) TODO list, but for now I'll poke it.

Spelugx
For the new aces - this is actually an entirely voluntary page by Spelugx. Praise him!
Is that enough grovelling?!

Spelugx the Beige, Wizard, Perl, Thaumatologically Challenged Posted Jan 19, 2004
Hmm, I seem to have misunderstood how my program uses the 'aces' database. Looks like I should restore from my backup and figure out why the stats are stored in the cache...

Spelugx the Beige, Wizard, Perl, Thaumatologically Challenged Posted Jan 19, 2004
I've just realised why it cleared the stats: instead of using the list of aces stored in the database against each user (in their 'aced by' field), it's actually using the list of aces from the cache to find out which aces to report stats for.
So, I've just cleared all the non-ace markings from the database, and things should work a bit better...

Spelugx the Beige, Wizard, Perl, Thaumatologically Challenged Posted Jan 20, 2004
Well the list has gone down a bit, but I've got rather confused about exactly where ace statuses are cached. It appears it's actually in both databases, so I've got problems...

Spelugx: *sound of fingers hitting keyboard rapidly*
Rho: A lot of (black) magic is going on just now...
Rho: *whispers to Spelugx* Say something inspirational.
Spelgux: Purple is my favourite colour.
Rho: O...K... I'll just hit the 'Post Message' button now, then walk slowly away.
