A Guiness please.
I heard about the party. Really cool. I have tried to galvanize the California element into a party, however, so far there have been no takers Oh well, the next time there is a party in England I think I might fly in

It was good fun

At least in the UK quite a few people can get into London. The US is simply too big. We did get a visit from Towel Master cos he was in the country for the weekend.

Cheers
I agree, the US is just too big. We will need to start local chapters. Just like the Flying Elvis' in Leaving Las Vegas.
*said with an Elvis accent*
We're the flying Elvis' Utah Chapter

About 20ish I think, but not all of them were there all day. Peta has the full list and the pictures will be in the next edition of the POST. And Psyduck had a digital video camera so there might be some avi files turning up too.

I might have come along but I was busy on friday night (til 3am), and had meetings to go to on saturday. Leving group projects to the last minute isn't a good idea. Besides a ticket to london would be just out of my budget after the previous week.

You could catch the next one. I'm planning to be there if I can, it was strange how well we all got on together. I know most of us are in contact here, but face to face is much different.

It would be different if my parents still lived near London, but they moved countries this summerso I can't exactly mix a visit to my parents to one meeting you lot. The long train journeys (well Bath to London) would be testing.
I'll keep it in mind for the next time though.
I was wondering, how did you know who was whom? Were there name tags or did you just have to explain to everyone who you were?

Face to face is definitely different. For one thing, there is no lag in a conversation (meaning waiting minutes, hours or days for a response)
Did anyone have little placards with faces on them

You would be surprised how well a group of researchers stick out. Its hard to miss us really. But Towel Master and Shazz helped, they had their names on their T-shirts. And Pastey had an H2G2 badge on his shirt.

The longest I've waited so far before getting a reply has been five weeks, well for those that have been replied to anyway.

Menza Posted Dec 13, 1999
I know what you mean, some of my entries and stuff don't ever get replied to.

I kind of expect it for journal entries and, to a lesser extent, guide entries but it rankles when its a comment I made on someone else's entry.

I know the feeling. I always _try_ to reply to anyone who has been kind enough to reply to me, but it is often hard when there are too many messages. At the moment I'm experiencing a huge lag of messages to reply to since I was away the weekend at the get together - but I hope to catch up as soon as poss, so anything anyone's written to me _will_ be replied to soon enough!
And in answer to the question, no-one had any smileys on - the only ID were the 2 t-shirts of Towel Master & Shazz, and badges.

Had to quickly check my user pages, just in case. The only one I regularly check is the F&F. The Halloween stories thing is not really anything to de with me, I just drew the smileys.

Try being away for a week at a time.
Though it was my own fault, trying to catch up on conversations was difficult, a lot of them had completely new people involved and the subject matter had changed. That was confusing.
Thankfully I had got involved with a few comnversations that didn't miss me and a few that shut down anyway, otherwise it would have taken forever to catch up.

I agree about the replies to messages. It's just common courtesy to reply. Someone has taken the time out of their day to make a comment on something you have said, written, etc, the least you can do is say thanks or something.
Of course this is why I am starting a Courtesy Revolution I'm just not sure how to go about it.

I have a tendancy to make a journal entry every time I log on. That way I know what have been the new posts and which fora I can safely ignore. It certainly reduces the number of places I look through every time I come online
