It wouldn't matter even if they didn't mind, it would still be advertising and that isn't allowed at the BBC.

That would mean there could be no Entries in the Guide about real places/pubs which mentioned their name.

It might be worth checking with Petasmiley - smiley

Well she was the one who told me we would have to change it in the first place.

And even if we do think of something that we consider to be original, with the amount of pubs in the world, chances are, one'll have that name.
*Wonders how many pubs there are in the world.... Thinks that wanting a smiley - ale is a better idea.*

Right - the reason the F&F needed a name change is because Firkin is a registered trade mark, unique to the Firkin chain of pubs. And so they could take action against h2g2 should they percieve it to be bringing them into disrepute or they felt we were unfairly trading off their name.

Most traditional pub names aren't trade marks.

Can I just add that the combination of a large lunch and a warm office are almost fatal. There is no chance of getting any work done in the afternoon. smiley - winkeye

I thought as much, otherwise they'd all be taking action out against each other.
So we could have a H2G2 Oak Tree or something, with Charles II hidden inside...
