The Golgafrinchams are awake, someone just got busted at The BOG

Has Fanny been telling tales again?
BTW, Wumbeevil, what happened to the Jimmy McNulty link on your page? Did they delete it or did you? You're still allowed outside links on your homepage - they only get confiscated from Forums, usually...

... a bit more awake this time.
Thanks for all the generous s, Ormy, 'beevil.
and I think it is the tea smiley that's missing.
well?
Dunno who Fanny Fletcher is, so if the name is copyrihted, then the PR dept of the comany in question did something not quite right.
I know Fran Drescher though. Yup.
Furthermore, Lucinda and I have started a movement to refer to the moderators as 'squacks' from now on. Derived from 'square brackets', y'know. As in 'italics'? Now we have squacks. Happy?
Back to the F&F nameing then.

Yeah Jimmy got taken away without any reason being given, but I've left enough of a title there for people to find it.
They also took away McGonagall's poem for copyright reasons. Who would want to be associated with it?
I'm seriously thinking of dumping my bookmarks file in an article just to keep the s busy checking every site, but I'm a bit worried that they might misinterpret my interest in adult babywear!
As for Fanny, you haven't seen Rupert Murdoch's organ this morning, have you? (I can't say NotW because it's a Jam song)

Yeah, squacks has quite a nice ring to it in a cubist sort of a way, but it's only mildly abusive.
What about Winkers?

Ormondroyd Posted Mar 18, 2001
How about The Beer & Monster? You could refer to it entirely in smileys then, as in "I saw him in the yesterday..."

Well, mildly abusive was really what it was meant to be, wumbeevil.
It's bad enought that the beeb wants 'em there, turning the squacks against us will only make things worse. Besides, I got nuttin' against nobody.
Clowns is okay too. 's got a similar ring to squacks, plus you can use the .

If they did their jobs properly there wouldn't be the need for more derogatory terms, but we seem to have been landed with the biggest load of incontinent s since the outbreak of dysentery at Billy Copyright's Circus.

incontinent?
I can't tell whether they're incontinent. but if they are that's not your problem, is it? If they were incompetent, yes, it would be bad news, but incontinent squacks dripping some urine into their boxers or down the legs of their desk chairs, what does that bug you for?
I'd like an . It's about that time here.

I need a ...
I just do not understand what the Maderator s are up to. The idea of banning song titles is just ludicrous. If you couldn't use them for copyright reasons, all the music press - including the BBC's own "Top Of The Pops" magazine - would have to close. Come to that, you wouldn't be able to use the word "music" in case Madonna's publishers sued you for taking her album title in vain!
But the really odd thing is this: I wrote a Guide Entry on The Smiths which not only mentions lots of song titles but actually uses Smiths song titles as sub-headers - and they haven't been removed, although some outside links that were in the Entry have vanished. If the s want to command any respect here, they should at least be consistent.
And BTW, why don't we just call them "censors"? That's what they are. They don't deserve an affectionate nickname when they're mutilating our work for no good reason, and "moderator" is a euphemism.
Phew, I feel better for that!
Does anyone want a drink now?

On what occasion have they removed song titles? I haven't come across such an incident and only heard rumours. I personally have put song titles in conversations and not had them removed.
*demonstrates*
'Disarm' by The Smashing Pumpkins is one of my favourite songs.

Fair point, Peregrin - it may be just a rumour, or maybe the song had an outrageous title. Perhaps it was The Dead Kennedys' punk classic "Too Drunk To Moderate", or something.
And I'll join in the demonstration. I love "Common People" by Pulp!

Song Titles Thread
Posting 242 You gotta fight for your right to partaeee. (how true)
Posting 244 It ain't me babe
Posting 245 A rephrased Beasties "You gotta have fisticuffs for your NOT left to have a ball"
Two [Copyright material removed by censor]s and one "Awaiting Moderation"
Now watch this for inconsistency.
A glass of the foaming generics please Menza.

One pint of foaming generics coming up.

Hehehe. Mentioning black and white is also offensive Ormy, just ask Trillion. Takes and drinks it quick before it vanishes.
Ahh, that's better.
