A relative of the haunted house with which I am familiar is the 'Haunted Wood' walk that was a high point of Guide Camp. The P.L.s and Leaders would mark out a trail through a dark wood, usually an obstacle course, and hide at intervals along the route to scare us. It was a matter of pride to get through without screaming, but it was always fun.
