Make your contents accessible to users that do not have graphics (because loading is too slow, because they use lynx [ http://www.lynx.org ]...), please.
It is something I notice on most pages: the writers put graphics (sometimes of low relevance) but when I look at their page with lynx, all I get to see is <<[INLINE]>> and I am left to guess what is the meaning. I have my own reasons to use lynx as my browser: as it concentrates on text, which is most of the time the information I'm really looking for (let's face it, nobody surfs the WEB just to stare in awe at flashing backgrounds... at least I hope nobody does), the browser automatically displays only the information I really need.
If the HTML code you give on this page could be changed to the following:
<IMG src="" border="0" alt="h2g2 logo>
on text-only browsers (or if for whatever reason the gif-file isn't available on your server anymore also in NS or IE) the text <<[h2g2 logo]>> will tell your readers that a picture with "h2g2 logo" as description was included on the page.
(Actually, this code should be without the space in front of the closing " of the URL, but it is needed to get a more or less decent rendering of my mail)
I'm still new to this community, so I didn't spot this earlier

Sorry, I got the wrong link in my previous mail, it should have been http://lynx.browser.org or http://www.cfar.umd.edu/~waksman/lynx/ for an explanation of what "lynx-friendly" means

I used to use Lynx for the same reasons... that is... until I stopped using my Linux 486 Laptop and bought a rather fine P2-500Mhz and the Internet goes fine, thankyou very much! I don't care about the graphics because they load quickly anyway.

somehow I don't think the fact that it doesn't matter to you is relevant.
Key: Complain about this post
