h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

This is a gruesome story told to me by a friend, who knew it was true because her friend knew the girl it happened to... yeah, you know the rest.
This girl goes to her doctor because she's been suffering pain and itching in the nethers. He examines her, then sits her down and tells her it's serious: they're going to have to get her boyfriend in, and also call the police.
She is understandably shocked, and demands to know why. The doctor answers that she is suffering from genital worms and the only way you can get these is from sleeping with the dead.
Her boyfriend is duly summoned, arrested and is now serving time for necrophilia.

Wrong on several counts, because:
Genital worms do not exist, at least not from necrophilia. Corpses do not contain worms (they're maggots) and it'd be difficult for them to reach that stage of decomposition in a modern mortuary.
Surely the boyfriend would have been aware of the problem first.
Apart from all this, it's just silly.

Oh, and the kidney-stealing story is most definately NOT TRUE. Sorry to spoil the fun of whoever wrote it.

It took me ages to get here, my computer booted me every time I clicked on the urban legend link to do with techno.... or what?
Have they been removed, do you know, or is it my computer( or just it's operator)

I don't think it's there anymore.

I could supply you an address, but the moderators would probably remove it. There are LOTS of urban legends out there, and they provide great entertainment for sceptics. And cause for thinking when one comes across one of the few TRUE ones. Reality can be a challenge, you know...

As a teacher, I've used these things in my classes. Entertaining and causing some kids to think a bit.

I'll try anyway, the worst that can happen is a moderator-removal. Try [URL removed by moderator]or [URL removed by moderator]for a quick look at some of the bigger ones. Most of these have also been researched for true/untrue effects.
