McKay The Disorganised

This bit - "If a double five is laid, this amounts to ten, which is divisible by five, so the score would be two. If the total were to equal fifteen, then the score would be 15 divided by 5 = 3, and 15 divided by 3 = 5, giving 8 in total. Play continues to a predetermined total."

Is clumsy. Fives & Threes is played so that you score the total of the two end tiles, divided by 5 or 3 or both. So the top score for a single play is 8 (double 6 & 3 or double 5 & 5) This is achieved by scoring 15 (3*5 and 5*3) The game is normally played on a crib board so 121 is usually the required total. The game can be played between two players but is normally a game for 4 people playing as 2 teams of 2. It can be played by 3 people, each trying to reach 121.

Would be clearer.

Thanks McKay...

Slightly adapted and amended.

Just couldn't get around that one without excessive wordage.

Very concise!

Basically I've no idea!

I submitted it to Peer Review, then had to remove it as it was an update. Then it went to Update Forum and was moved back to Peer Review after some tweaks.

It just doesn't seem to have found favour with the PTB's or those that choose them etc. so it will probably fester here until it becomes Flea Martket II fodder, and someone else will take it on... and the cycle will begin again. smiley - laugh

I've done my bit. I could hammer the different types of games to death but, frankly, it has been such a labour of love and a millstone, I'm bored with it... smiley - sadface

I'll leave it to languish here a few more months... or years!

smiley - cheers and thanks for asking, Nother.

If the author (MMF) is happy with what they have done to add more to the original Entry they can follow the new Update Process, as outlined here; UpdateForum

Anything further can then be updated again by someone else. That's what updating is all about smiley - winkeye

If we haven't finished, maybe "Threes and Fives" should be "Fives and Threes" throughout? (It already is in the McKay adapted bit).

Fives and Threes is certainly the name I know, and a Google hit count suggests it's around five times commoner than the alternative.

Slight change done...

I don't fully understand Uncle Matt's comment, as it has already been there!

I didn't do that work for nothing! smiley - cross

But I am tempted to wash my hands of what has become a smiley - skull entry!

I took it on in good faith and complete naivety...

I'll know, now, not to rescue another flea market or lightweight entry that I feel I know something about!

It is not worth it! smiley - groan

smiley - cheers for your advise though. It is still appreciated!

MMF, it is now up to YOU to pass this back to the Editors through Editorial feedback for the Update to be completed. It explains how to do this at the UpdateForum page, the process has changed, if you read through the page now you'll see you simply send a line to <./>Feedback-Editorial</.> with the old Entry number, this Entry number and the PR thread. The update will then go through. Eventually.

It won't be picked by a Scout (or PTB), as a normal PR Entry would be.

If there's things missing or people aren't happy, then THEY can do more of the work, using the Update process again.

So again,

This WON'T be picked by a Scout for inclusion,

MMF, YOU have to finish the process. Read through the Update Forum page again please, the directions, are far as I'm aware, are reasonably straightforward. smiley - ok

Hope that helps. smiley - smiley

Before it does go back, the entry says that nine pip dominoes are 'now' available. Are they actually something new? I well remember that this version was played commonly in pubs around the Manchester area about thirty years ago and seemed to be considered very much a local tradition.

Not really important, of course, and I'd hate to delay the update any further!

Malabarista - now with added pony

smiley - applause to Mazin for tackling this.

And one more thing comes to mind:

"The ideal ending of the game is for a player to Chip Out"

This implies that there are other endings to the game, but you don't explain them...
