A Conversation for Missionaries
Fact or Fiction?

This biased and sarcastic article seems to me to be more fiction/humor than fact. Although many missionaries of the past thrust their beliefs rather forcefully on other cases, this is not and never was the aim of missionary efforts. This type of behavior comes from confusing *Christianity* with *western culture*. Since Christian missionary efforts have generally originated in western Europe (and now the Americas) many missionaries included aspects of their culture and customs in their teaching of religion. However, it is not and should not be necessary to destroy a people's own religion/culture to teach them about your own religion -- and people should always be given free choice what to believe. To do otherwise defeats the purpose.
Although it is probably humorous to many, this article could do with some more balanced coverage of the work of missionaries if it is to represent the entire missionary population as the Approved Guide Entry. I, especially, was offended by its obvious disdain, as I have been considering going into full-time missions.
