Pastey and Phil got mine spot on, in that order.
"I see you standing there...
You think you're so cool...
Why don't you just..."

Hmm.. I left three, an no one has commented on any of them.. So I'll recap:
Com una guitarra en la noche
***
... a punch in the nose and it's starting to flow and I might be
sinking
***
I hope he's not like me
I hope he understands
That he can take this life
And hold it in both hands.

Only recognise the "salad days line" but did happen to watch that programme so take a guess at "gold ? by spandet ballou"
Ooh do i get the prize , have you got any left in the back of a cupboard somewhere?
NTT 2000
$u$ Posted Sep 22, 2000
No prize for being WRONG!
The 'salad days' reference was from 'Gold', but the lyrics are from something completely different.
And it's Spandet Ballau... at least get that bit right.
So that's a big 0 out of a possible infinity.
Keep trying.
*you always are*

This one's dedicated to all the GnFnRs fans who stood by us through all the s**t!
Get in the ring. One of the Use Your Illusions albums (don't know which one as they're both taped across two tapes I've got).
The one of mine which was used by Fatboy Slim on Praise You was the sone Take Yo Praise by Camille Yarbrough.

Any chance of translations for the non english language ones.
Here's a line from an old favourite of mine, just heard on the radio. I used to jump around to this at university (which if anyone knows roughly how old I am will be a clue) and have seen the band and offshoots from the band
"He was infamous for 15 minutes and appeared on panorama"

Phil: Not Get In The Ring. Nor Shotgun Blues, One In A Million, or any other song you care to think of. So which albums does that narrow it down to?
btw - Get In The Ring is on #2. And it's "-f*****g- s**t!"
And to all those opposed? Hmmm, well?

Which colour is #2?
more from mine above...
"At six foot six and a hundred tons
the undisputed king of the slums"

Oo, Oo, at last after keeping a distant watch for nearly a year (last post Oct 9 1999) I know one, gosh, oh gosh, oh gosh,
"At six foot six and an hundred tone, the undisputed king of the slums....With more alias' than Klaus Barbie, the master builder of leigh on sea" Well it has to be Sheriff fatman By Carter,The Unstoppable Sex Machine on the 101 dammations LP.
OK now I'm back in the game here's two for you all. The first I think is hard (I give loads of lines as I love the song, anyone who recently watched BBC2's I Love the 70s will know what I mean) the second much easier;
"Curley wurleys, aztec bars
was there really life on Mars?
jumping jacky pallo, jackson browne
Hillman Hunters, Norman Hunter......
.....chippers, tomahawks and choppers
Red spacehoppers
grasshoppers kwai chang kane
confess you wore a rally jacket
or is it just a blur"
and secondly
"Good morning TV
now what's been said
around the world
while I'm in bed
nothing changes
'cos we're still being fed
on white lies
+ stale white bread"
Have Fun

Phil's kinda reminds me of BOC's "Godzilla." And on that note:
One likes to believe in the freedom of music
But gilttering prizes and endless compromises
Shatter the illusion of integrity, yeah...

Phil Posted Oct 1, 2000
Points and prizes to C Hawke for getting Sheriff Fatman by Carter USM.
I have no idea about the others though.
Colonel, which of mine made you think of BOC's Godzilla (and who are BOC?)
NTT 2000
Blatherskite the Mugwump - Bandwidth Bandit Posted Oct 1, 2000
BOC: Blue Oyster Cult. They were a rather popular rock band in the '70's. As for the reminder, although Godzilla was much taller than 6'6", the rest of your "king of the slums" thing kinda reminded me of it, and the words would fit the rhythmic scheme of the song fairly well.

Phil Posted Oct 1, 2000
Ah that's who BOC is . I'll have to see if I can find a copy of that somewhere...
Carter USM (Unstoppable Sex Machine) were a duo from the early to mid 90's doing the british indie stuff (much beloved of students) and that track was about some of their previous landlords see http://www.fruity.dircon.co.uk/songs/fatman.html for the full lyrics.

Ahhhhh I know that one, but with only 7 minutes of weekend rate phone calls and having to get breakfast and go to work it's going to be bugging me all day.......hint on my two. Both are british, both stated somewhere in the 80s both have political agendas of there own, respecively left wing and anarchist(ish)

I just could go to work with that one unsolved. I thought it was Marillion but suddenly it appeared to me in a flash - Rush, Spirit of Radio - don't know where it was from originally (2112?) I have it on Exit Stage Left. And with that so will I, passed 8:00 and got to do the work thing
