Little clue that should be 'up your alley': John Illsley was on bass!

Call yerself a bass man?! One of the greatest bands ever. I'd give you the lead guitarist's name, but that would be making it too easy!

Hmmm, bass players...
Steve Harris, Jack Bruce, Sid Vicious, the Geezer chap from Black Sabbath...uuuh...Chris Alymer, Tom Araya, Steve Winwood, Rick Grech, Nathan East...uuhh...and unless I go through all my Metal Hammers and Kerrang!s that's about it
One of the greatest bands ever. Well, the Beatles? Iron Maiden? Cream? The Sex Pistols? Obviously not...don't tell me it's Metallica...

I dunno whether Mr Illsley could claim fame in his own right, I just thought he might be a familiar name to some. I'm sure your knowledge of music isn't this dire.
It was one of the biggest selling UK albums ever, and I believe went strait to number one!

Well, lorks, I dunno about album sales and that! I know Cream's Wheels of Fire (I think it was called that) was the first album to go platinum, ever, and Iron Maiden have had about 50-odd gold, silver and plat'num albums, but other than that I'm screwed!
Yeah, you got me beat *^_^*

If bass players are what you're after...
packed like lemmings into shiny metal boxes
contestants in a suicidal race
daddy grips the wheel and stares alone into the distance
he knows that something somewhere has to break

Okay.. I'm here.. But dagnabit, you already stole the song I was intending to use as my come-back...
Well if you told me you were drowning
I would not lend a hand
I've seen your face before, my friend
But I don't know if you know who I am
But I was there and I saw what you did
Saw it with my own two eyes
So you can wipe off that grin
I know where you've been
It's all been a pack of lies
Well I remember
I remember, don't worry
How could I ever forget
It's the first time, the last time, we ever met
But I know the reason why you keep this silence up
Though you don't know me
Well the hurt doesn't show
But the pain still grows
So strangers are you and me
And I can feel it
Coming in the air tonight
Oh lord
Oh well.. I tried.. So now that I've gotten that out of my system... Let's go for another easy one...
Every now and then I get a little bit tired
of listening to the sounds of my tears.

I promised myself to listen to Phil, but I haven't yet
As is usual, I have no clue as to what nony's lyric is
"Finished with my woman cos she couldn't help me with my mind
People think I'm insane because I am frowning all the time."

Ok here's some more of mine the opening lines no less...
Another suburban family morning
Grandmother screaming at the wall
We have to shout above the din of our Rice Crispies
We can't hear anything at all
Singer (and bass player) worked on the above bands most major hit...

Oh and Mike, how old is the tune you've got as I sort of recognise it but then again...
Key: Complain about this post
