Re, The wisest fool's post : "Up, down, turn around
Please don't let me hit the ground
Tonight I think I'll walk alone
I'll find my soul as I go home"
It an 80s thing isn't it? Blancmange or something like that? Haven't read all the posts yet so if someone has already got this - sorry. I think I know this (a glimmer of hope at last - boy there's some weird musical tastes in here.)
A topical one for tonight :
"You were the spice of life, the gin in my vermouth,
and though the sparks would fly I thought our love was fire-proof"

Hi FrizzyChick, mine was an 80's thing but not Blancmange. A clue - "oh you've got blue eyes, oh you've got green eyes, oh you've got grey eyes". Plus, Renton had a bad time in bed when this was playing
As for your lyric, is that from 'Indoor Fireworks' by The Costello Show (AKA Elvis plus old blokes)?? If so, very apt today!

New Order - no idea what the song is called.. this is going to be bugging me now...

Oh yeah and totally correct with Indoor Fireworks - I was walking home from work tonight and with all the pyrotechnic activity around - I thought of this and couldn't get it out of my head - fantastic song - sang it all around the Co-op...

and leave this one for solving what ever is left?

Well done FrizzyChick! You got there in the end.
It's harder to get songs when the title isn't even in the verse lyrics let alone the chorus
