Does an urban toreadopr fight bulls**t rather than bulls. Sorry, got a bit confued. Does anyone feel like doing a summmary of those lyrics yet unsolved. Haven't visited this forum for a while and am totally confused. And what is all that historical viking / norseman slaying stuff.... bizarre.
P.S. Does anyone know how these threads work?

I'm still waiting for MM to get back and tell me what I've won!
Oh, and for someone to at least take a stab at one (at least) or both of mine. After all, the first one (1.) is about as mainstream as they come, the title is in the very next line and scattered all through the tune. )

(Notice, everyone, how he totally avoided saying whether or not I'd actually gotten the correct answer in order to win that prize. )

What's gone on with this thread, eh? No takers and no activity.. Gotta do something about that. *throws in some more fodder* (These are easy ones. )
1)
Hey girl whatcha doin down there
Dancin alone every night
while I live right above you
2)
In the desert,
you can remember your name
Cause there ain't no one
gonna give you no pain
3)
Letters are written
Never meaning to send
Those ought to be answered in less than an hour.

*several hours later*
Errm I'll have a go...
1. "Knock Three Times" by Dawn wasn't it. "Twice on the pipes..." *clang* *clang* LOL!
2. No idea on this one, but probably not by Steps.
3. That's got to be from "Nights In White Satin" by Justin Hayward and The Moody Blues or The Dickies, depending on what medicine you've been taking
OK and here's one for you all, from one of my favourite lyrics...
"While one who sings with his tongue on fire,
Gargles in the rat race choir,
Bent out of shape from society's pliers,
Cares not to come up any higher,
But rather get you down in the hole that he's in"

The third one is unquestionably Nights In White Satin, by Moody and his Blues. Written by Justin Hayward? Just what the truth is I can't say any more.
On the other hand,
"Me? I'm just a lawn-mower / You can tell me by the way I walk!"
Nice easy one there, so name also the singer and the writer.

I know what I like
Peter Gabriel
Genesis
"Took a boat sunday...
Down by the sea...."
Anyone...?

Anonymouse Posted Oct 28, 1999
I can hear your music playin
I can feel your body swayin
One floor below me
You don't even know me
I love you
Knock three times
On the ceiling if you want me
Twice on the pipes
etc
Yup yup. And indeed on Knights in white satin (as has been stated).
So that leaves number two... This part oughta give it away:
After three days
I let the horse run free
'Cause the desert had turned to sea

Oh... And since no one seems to want to guess those others I put up (you can scroll back for them) the first one is
Head East -- Never Been Any Reason
Second one is Bonnie Tyler
Tire tracks and broken hearts
That's all we're leavin behind
It doesn't matter what we're gonna lose
Only matters what we're gonna find
Tire tracks and broken hearts
Let's get away from the past
So many ways to stay hungry, baby
So many ways to go fast

After reading the second installment of lyrics, I say it's
Horse With No Name, Neil Young
And tell me when the spaceship lands
'cos all this has got to mean something

Nicht Spinal Tap, but in a similar vein.
Everyone else sems to be ignoring me. Come on everyone go back and look at my lot. It's v. v. v. good and v. v. v. witty.
PS I have no clue where all the other lyrics have come from it is far too difficult for me.

Wowee! This one took me back. And it was a while before the penny dropped. I kept wanting to sing
"I'm waiting in my cold cell when the bell begins to chime
Reflecting on my past life and it doesn't have much time"
but knew that wasn't right somehow. So I dug out the old vinyl and listened to both sides (did you know you have to get up and turn those things over half way through? I'd forgotten that too).
And there it was. Track one. Invaders, from the Number Of The Beast Album (by none other than the mighty Iron Maiden. 1982 [Harris]).
And wasn't it spelt (well sung at least) Norsemeeee-eeee-hee-een?
