Julian Cope. The man and his music
The man's mad, clearly, but mad in an almost prophetic way. A little out of touch with the normal world - hell, he apologized for releasing 'Leperskin' after the Poll tax riots had seen off the Poll Tax, but he is indeed the Archdrood from another planet.. I seem to remember he claimed to have taken acid daily for about 3 years, so we can applaud him his managing to stay even vaguely with the world as the rest of us know it, and excuse his bouts of uncomprehensibility. And thanks to him we got the KLF anyway. We can remember the glory of his live version of Reynard the Fox, marvel at his microphone complete with bits for him to stand on, wonder what the hell the BBC were thinking of allowing him to present Top Of The Pops, and look forward to the next musically sound but lyrically deranged thing he will release next. He's done Politics, He's done Family, He's done Pollution, He's done Spirituality (frequently), He's done more drugs than I have, and may the Queen Mother Earth give him a pat on the back for that.Latest Messages
