Don't know if this link will work:

http://www.kosher.org.uk/downloads/Nosh_Guide_06_FINAL.pdf.

but this is some of the text from that site

"After Eight Mints made in the UK (with York address on packaging) are Kosher and Parev. There are some After Eight Mints available in the UK and in Duty Free Shops that are made in Germany and contain butterfat. These are not approved."

Someone with a better knowledge of food laws will be able to explain the importance of "Parev".

smiley - headhurts this is getting complicated smiley - laugh

This is the info referred to http://www.nestleeuropeanchocolate.com/aftereight/collection/kosher.asp

Maybe the easiest way would be to say some of Nestles factories produce Kosher products, and to check the labelling to find out. smiley - ermsmiley - smiley

Pareve, according to the online dictionary is defined as "Prepared without meat, milk, or their derivatives and therefore permissible to be eaten with both meat and dairy dishes according to dietary laws"

And from Judaism 101 the explanation of why after dinner mints need to be kosher.

"One must wait a significant amount of time between eating meat and dairy. Opinions differ, and vary from three to six hours. This is because fatty residues and meat particles tend to cling to the mouth. From dairy to meat, however, one need only rinse one's mouth and eat a neutral solid like bread, unless the dairy product in question is also of a type that tends to stick in the mouth"

*scrolls up to the ingredients in post #1*

There's none of those ingredients there, maybe Kosher. smiley - erm

Magwitch, that page says -

>"Products are endorsed as Kosher if they bear the OU emblem on the label. "

Can you see an 'OU emblem' on your box?

A few days ago I was finding out about the After Eight Bar, I found a wrapper on google images, which very annoyingly, I can't find again. This is what was on the wrapper -

Ingredients: Bittersweet chocolate (Chocolate Processed with Alkali, Sugar, Milkfat, Cocoa Butter, Soy Lecithin, Vanillin – an Artificial Flavour), Sugar, Invert Sugar, Water, Corn Syrup, Peppermint Oil, Salt, Invertase.

Distributed by Nestle USA, Inc. Glendale, CA 91203 'C' in a cirleNestle

It also has a 'U' inside a circle and a 'D'

and

Which is the website that has the Kosher info. I'm almost sure the bar is Kosher, but there's no 'OU emblem' smiley - erm unless it's on the other half of the wrapper. I had to copy and paste the wrapper to Paint, cut the upside-down half, and rotate it, so I could read it without standing on my head. smiley - laugh

I'll have to try again to find it smiley - run

smiley - wahJust read the ingredients while 'Previewing' it's got milkfat, so it's not Kosher is it. smiley - headhurts again smiley - laugh
