I'm stuck. I had a read of the Wiki entry and it is, frankly, dull. The current HooToo entry is somewhat lacking. I decided to write an amusing, and interesting, Marillion entry but have run aground. Problem is that I don't want to get into a list of albums as describing the music is pretty pointless, but I can't write about the band without mentioning the albums! Argh! Does anybody have any suggestions for a direction? The band did have a surprisingly interesting history...

Which is?!!!!
I suppose if you know the history you want some way of writing it without directly linking it to album releases.
Anyway of linking it year by year via what Fish was getting up to as a hook for the other stories.
Where there are interesting things happening during album recordings just say while recording and stick in the stories. Let people work out what the albums were.
I remember hearing Fish call the video/DVD collection of the Marillion singles videos 'the story of the receding hairline' or something like that.
The digitally remastered CDs of Childhood and Clutching At Straws have great recollections from all the band.
I went to see Fish recording an edition of the Radio 2 show 'Jammin' with Rowland Rivron in London at the Drill Hall which I found out is a gay theatre - though the crowd were very 'straight' Radio 2 comedy listeners!
It will be broadcast in August/September of this year. Though as a Muso yourself you probably listen to it anyway...and have probably been to a recording thinking about it..if not why not!?!!?!?!

I haven't - I'm a bit ill-informed!
Most of the info I've got comes from Marillion's website - there are pieces written by various band members (including Fish) for the periods around each album. I think I'll have to base it around the albums but avoid commenting on the albums themselves - I think I just realised that my motivation for this is that if I discuss the albums the entry will get a bit cumbersome!

You've missed my all-time favorite album!!!???
Marillion: Six of One Half Dozen of the Other
It may have just been a compilation album, and someone might feel it was too commercial; but I feel it has the best work and feel of the five albums I've bought.
It even seems to carry a literary theme, although I'd rather not give away what I've found in it.
Including the album would be nice, please. BTW, nice work, this

The problem with 'Six of one' is that it was released after 1988, and this entry's purely about the Fish years. As it includes Fish tracks I could include it on the album list but then I'd have to include a bunch more compilations.
I'm currently listening to the track Fugazi. There's nothing like writing an entry to get you back on the good stuff.

Why 1988? There's already a Post 1988 entry: A580349
And I'm not too well versed in H's era. Fishy Marillion was my schoolday soundtrack (well, from 85 - 89 anyway!) but I lost interest after Season's End. Nothing against H Marillion, but they didn't grab me once the Jester went.

Hey, Thanks for responding!
All is now clear!

'Ello. It's now out of PR and in the Update Forum. Blimey, it's getting about a bit.
I'll always take the roundabout way.
