I suspect that even if two-thirds of the population is wiped out in the next fifty years this forum will survive.
Unfortunately at the rate we are going we would only have about 50,000 by then. And that is using as an axiom that we will not run out of trivia to speak about in the meanwhile, and our children will still think this is the place to talk about them.
I myself think both those axioms are a bit shaky.

the future is less than a second away and is the start of the rest of your life. The past is of no consequence because you can't undo what happened one second ago

And if you didn't do it there is nothing to be undone.
then on the other hand if you didn't do it maybe you wish you had.
but either way the past is gone, and for better or ill, we can't change it.

In 1776 a group of men sat down in Philidelphia and signed the Declaration of independence laying out how they had been mistreated by England. They wanted to show that they could do it better themselves
and so they pledged "Their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor" to the new United states of America.
237 years later it seems like the shoe is on the other foot. Since 2001 they have invaded everyone's phone and internet records and to often we trade "life ,liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" for protection from terror attack. Sometimes I think we got a poor bargain. However in Ameerica you don't have the army doing like they did in Egypt saying get it right or get out.

Now it sounds like a war zone here.
Someone said Independence day is the
one holiday in the year when people think it is OK to get drunk and then handle explosives.

"mankind" is a fool unto himself, the only species on the planet that kills just for the sake of killingand will ultimately kill the planet in his quest for power,greed
