In England we have white lies and black lies. White lie would be: "I haven't bought you a birthday present, honest!!" A black lie would be: "My name is Zweimoto."

But there is a very big area, however, where grey dominants. EG: Not telling the whole truth? Or letting someone believe something, even though it isn't true.

Telling the truth in a CV is very hard - what percentage of a CV is BS? How far can one get, telling half-truths?

Most famous 'half' truth might be: "I did not have sexual relations with that women!", when in fact he did.

What's a CV?

I refute entirely the notion that there is such a thing as a 'truth', and thereby refute the possibility of this statement being 'true'. Which must be true... I read it in the newspaper

no, right, like, anyhow, and she said that it was like cause her mate, who's at college, you know, with the two kids and the strange hairdoo, that, like her Dad, he'd like heard it off of this boke on the vans, and he'd worked there, so he must of so there.

Well, I overheard two chavs talking about it on the bus, so it must be true. They used swearing an'all!

No, like, cause Tara saw them right, and she says they don't know nothing and they're like from the estate and everything so they wouldn't know cause they've like not ever even been ther e and anyhow Taras cousin knew the driver and everything so he must have seen it and so, yeh.

It's hard to tell the truth all the time. If I didn't tell a few white lies, or just keep my mouth shut some of the time, my friends and enemies would be very offended. When I do tell the truth, I try and tell it gently. For example, if someone thinks they are a good cook, why not let them believe their cooking is exceptional? They might grow into a better cook with the encouragement.

Jim Carey fillum, Liar Liar? Where he has to tell the truth all the time, a feat made all the more difficult by the fact that he plays a lawyer.

Surely if we told the truth all the time we would always be feuding. I mean "does my bum look big in this?" tell the truth and lose a friend. "Why can't I keep a boyfriend?" Because you are a self centred, selfish little trollope. I mean I would love to tell the truth always but my life would be a war zone.

When mother in law says, "I do make a nice bit of pastry don't I" I would have to hide my head in a paper bag so she wouldn't hear me saying "No" its awful stuff.

I always found that the response "your bum looks wonderful in that" answered the question. And that's no lie.

I found it very therapeutic, when a friend wrote me a letter, explaining that he was disappointed in our friendship. This meant that I can tell him a few home truths ... AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHhh! And I don't mean Bisto!

I've got twins (non-identical) one looks at you in the eyes and tells non-truths. The other goes red and averts his eyes. So later I'm going to Las Vegas with the first - Viva Las Vegas! (Elvis voice!!)
