*bursts into tears* The dutch people have been being mean to meeeee!!!! Just because I'm busy and can't get everything set up fast enough for them! Sheesh!
Oh by the by, seeing as you are practically a head of dept for the German section, here's my email address: [email protected]
Every month or more I'm asking the HoDs to tell me how their dept is doing, how many active members they have, what needs to be done, whats wrong, etc etc. Feel free to join in that if you wish...if not then...don't

Okay...you're right we need to pep this place up! We seem to be losing people faster than we can find them and who better to discuss this with than my two greatest participators!
Any thoughts?
In the meantime...some more idioms for you to work through.
Don't count your chickens before they hatch
dicey
do a bang-up job
down in the dumps
drop someone a line

I’m feeling kind of sick today... Might have eaten something wrong! Please don’t expect me to work out any slang phrases today.

Hope you'll feel better soon katkodl
I'm too tired to think much, and too lazy to bother with it right now, I'll have a go at it later.

Don't count your chickens before they hatch
As long as you are not sure that you really have what you think you have, don’t act on the assumption that you have it.
E.g.: when you won in the lottery, don’t spend any money before you’ve received it. (I.e. because they might refuse to give you the money (who knows why), or because you lose the coupon before you can claim for the money…)
dicey
Brit.E.: unreliable, risky
do a bang-up job
Not sure, but I think if you’ve messed something up (e.g. smashed a car), it’s a bang-up job.
but: Am.E.: bang-up – great
I’m really not sure on this one.
down in the dumps
depressed
drop someone a line
to write someone a few lines.

A bang-up job is actually something that's been done really well
Well done though
Sorry guys I'll try and be around more...when I've decided that I'm not making everything I think, feel, say...up.

We could ask EMR to come around – she could do the Canadian and US stuff. And Chris… didn’t she promise to be around more often now that she has holidays? Or am I wrong here? Not sure…

Alright I'll think about it okay? I have a few issues with it which are irrational, and I find it hard to understand but sure I'll think about it and what sort of thing we might be able to do.
In the meantime I want you to tell me about these...
B&B
DIY
Allotment
Bangers
to book something (tell me the American version)
Boot (what's the American?)
Braces (the american...?)
Candy floss
Serves you right for wanting to learn American English

*quietly puzzled* There's an American version of braces? Maybe we're not thinking of the same thing...

Oh, those kind of braces... Having had teeth braces I tend to think of those automatically... Although I don't know if America would have their own version of either of those... Braces seem to be a pretty universal term... Well, in English speaking countries at least... Shutting up now...
