I have a friend who, while being obsessed with his Irish heritage, has learned Gaelig pronunciations... He had a list of names, one of which was about ten letters long and phonetically amounted to "Ian".

Good luck with that onesmiley - laugh

Ahh, you find your thread and talk, I think... I dunno, I've been here like a month but for most of that I was away. I can't even find a Mandarin thread, does anyone know if we have one? Does anyone who isn't me wanna create one? smiley - tongueout

It's been a bit quiet recently.

If you want to join one of the other threads under the main page, feel free. If the language you want to speak isn't there, start a new thread (preferably with the title 'LANGUAGE thread' [insert the language name]) and post a few basics of the language - most of us are very eager to learn smiley - biggrin

At the bottom of the main page is the list of threads; if the one you want has gone off the list, click 'More Conversations' or the link with words to that effect, and it'll display the full list smiley - smiley

Cat-Eyes: No..... why.... ?

we seriosuly need a WLTT Mandarin person here smiley - tongueout I mean, I can teach them up to 2 years of learning it, and it will be more as the year goes on, but I mean, do they really want to learn animals and the family structure and stuff? No? Actually, if I just teach them some basics and then we can have conversations where you just emit the word you don't know and put it in in English smiley - biggrin

smiley - biggrin Well, at least doing this I can remember my Chinese so I can do my homework...

Cat-Eyes: No..... why.... ?

Yep. If you read the mandarin thread, most of it is me ranting about pronunciation... But there's also pinyin, which is romanised chinese, so I can write it on the PC, I just need tone marks, and I don't know which alt + numbers combinations they are. Like how you get Ÿ from alt + 0159 and œ alt + 0156 and stuff, I don't know where the vowels with tone marks are...

If you flick through the Character Map, and select one of the characters you want, it should show the shortcut code somewhere in the window...
