Hi, everyone,

John didn't specify what time he would be on Radio 4. I wonder if they will replace the scheduled "Crossing Continents" programme? Or perhaps it will be much earlier in the Today programme?

If I find out I will let you all know. Thanks for the "waves" everyone!

I can't be sure, but I would imagine that what John is referring to is a segment of the Crossing Boundaries show rather than one show dedicated solely to the campaign. Which would suggest they'll be speaking to him at some point after 11.00.

Hope this helps. I'm hoping to hear the show myself.

Hi, Jimster,

It was a brief interview on BBC Radio 4's Today Programme at 8.50am BST. He sounded much better than when I spoke to him some months ago.

I am hoping to speak to him later, so will pass on good wishes.

Hi Websailer,
Good press coverage on the RSPB site. Please pass on a fellow ex Merchant Navy engineer's best wishes to John and the crew. Posted a message to them titled STRENGTH TO YOUR ARMS yesterday.

Just while the address is very temporary I only pointed to it once.

By the way do you happen to be BBC digital subscriber?"

Traveller in Time,
No I am resisting digital. Dumped my Sky subscrirtion years ago. As the TV content gets more and more diluted and poor we are going back to music and reading especially now with EuroThugs competition in full flow. Did you read the Matthew Paris article? It's available online at http://www.timesonline.co.uk/

That is what they write at least, I get eighter crashing systems, due to too many scripts they try to start or messages as 'you have to be subscriber to view this page' smiley - grr

Well, even if I try to subscribe I do not get very far, they open windows too small to read, they do incredible stupid things with cookies.

Does anybody have a copy, perhaps? "

Hi, Wandering Albatross,

Thanks for the link to Mathew Parris's article. I had to do a search under Mathew Parris but found it ok. You can get articles free for 7 days thank goodness. It was such a brilliant article, and I so agree with him that the John should have been front page news. I didn't see anything on our terrestrial TV news at all. Disgraceful But as you say the Eurothugs took over everything. Why football has to be front page headlines instead of confined to the Sports pages beats mesmiley - doh

I thought it was very gracious of John to thank him for the item as it was what he felt but couldn't put in to words. I think John is a "doer" more than a talker and "feels" more than he can write, but there is a need for all types in this crazy world.

Hey, Traveller in Time,

Somethings not right. Just follow the link to Timesonline. Enter Matthew Parris in the search box and select the Albatross article. Should be simple. Don't panic!

Hi, Websailor,

Glad you enjoyed the article. I used to read Matthew Parris when he wrote the Times Commons Sketch column but then he took a year out to live on the Kerguelen Islands and wrote a series of articles, and I think a book, abour his experience there. Required reading for this summer's hols. I have been trying to get Brian Viner from the Independent interested in John's quest. So far nothing but fingers crossed.

I'm sure he did a TV film about his time on Kerguelen, because it rang bells as soon as I read it.

Looks as if John has extra help for the trip up to Scotland. Shows what a good man he is, that so many people from his past are happy to help.

Good luck with Brian Viner.

Hi there,

Just tried again on my work pc which is behind a big firewall and got the article. My privacy settings are Medium.

Go to Times Online
Enter Matthew Parris in the Search box top left
Click the Search the Site box
Click It is past the eleventh hour...
You get three windows nested but the article is printer friendly.

Traveller in Time smiley - tit still disappointed in the brittish timesonline
"The US timesonline shows me any articles, unfortunately only from the local magazine.

The co.uk version comes to a grand conclusion
clicking on the found article I am presented with a delay of minutes
'The area you wish to access is behind registration.'

And even If I would like to register it is not possible, I can see the fields for entering name, etcetera, but there is no submit anywhere on the page. (they have blocked all properties of the page)

Well, perhaps they expect someone to report this.
I will not as I would only complain about their behavior >> offer a piece of information and on the later stage blocking any access.
