Phantasy Phootball - Euro 2004 special

Alfredo Marquez

I know B has already mentioned it but I am planning to run a Euro 2004 version of this cracking game. I will let you all know how I plan to organise it but for now i was just wondering who would be interested in taking part.

I suppose that this is a good juncture to mention that there will be an Official h2g2 Fantasy Football Euro 2004 competition, run by the Official h2g2 Fantasy Football League (the original and still the best...) smiley - winkeye

The page is fully coded up and ready to roll at A2251306. Though it is currently hidden primarily to stop folk wandering around it and creating random threads.

* looks pointedly in Egon's direction smiley - cross *

If there is the demand, I may open the competition up early for folk to sign up to. I hadn't planned on doing so until sometime in May, but I'm prepared to listen to other folk's views.

Over to you smiley - ok

Good show Desky.

I still remember the World Cup one- my favourite season of fantasty football that- the camararderie, the discusiions of points during games at stupid o'clock in the morning.

Me and Alfredo gooing down the pub for a liquid breakfast on the day of the England-Brazil game and me drinking Brown Ale at half seven in the morning. Them were the days.

Sorry, I know that last bit had nothing to do with fantasy Football, I just enjoy it.

Shame Portugal's time zone isn't so stupid.

Oh yes of course you can count me in smiley - smiley

Do you want to join in with my league? You've been one of the more prominent absentees from the competition over the last couple of seasons.

I think I will take part in your game as well this time.

I have avoided the last few leagues after my utterly atrocious showing during the World Cup version

Might give this a go for a while - now that my FF season is going down the pan, I'll want some form of consolation by then...

Can I recommend to Alfredo at this point that he'll need to limit the field to about 10 players (12 max), otherwise there won't be enough good players to go round.

Bear in mind that we're currently running out of good players, and there's 4 more teams to pick from in the Premiership.

The alternative (which I'm considering next season if demand permits)is to operate 2 leagues with the same set of palyers available to each.

Think I will be limiting this one to max of 12 teams as you suggested...unless I can get 16 people interested then I may try an elaborate groups system based on the Euro finals themselves.

We'll see

I'm thinking about entering one or both....

I don't think a groups system will work very well. You will have certain managers through to the final rounds who will have more players still in the tournament than other managers. At which point the result is pretty much a foregone conclusion.
