LeoA,
I read this when it first appeared, 5 days ago, and thought it summed the whole posting process up!
When I first posted to anything (the BBC writing site was my first posting ever, anywhere on line, just before it closed!) I 'opened my mouth' and put my proverbial foot in it! I 'worried' all night that I might have hurt some person's feelings, and I did get back some pretty sharp comments, and probably deserved them!
But your piece is beautifully expressed as well as being very pertinent to all our responses and interests. I love to see good English. In my experience, whether it is in speech or writing, Europeans and Americans are more literate in our language than most of our native population!
How's that for courting controversy at home? I'll now 'worry' all night about tomorrow's UK responses to that remark!

Fun entry, but this is one of the few forums I use where I could suffer post-post remorse. Most PHPBB based forums have an edit button where you can go back and edit your own posts. As long as they don't have a high amount of traffic if your quick you can make a change before the post is read! This is one of the few things about h2g2 that really annoys me that you cannot edit your own posts!
oh yeah on the subject of h2g2 you need to change the reference at the bottom of the page, it should be h2g2 not H2G2!

PHPBB... ?
Sorry, could you point me toward one? None that I've used had an edit button.
I'll add it in, though, soon as I know what it is.

Incredible! So anyone on earth can set up a forum?!
A10509239 - Post-post Remorse
Cardi Posted Apr 5, 2006
I guess so if you have the web space and a bit of computer skills about yourself!
I know one of my friends on the FTO forum has set up a forum called the Red Lion. Its a virtual pub where we can get together and chat about non-FTO related subjects which we cannot chat about on the FTO forum.

Hate to chat on the PR thread, but this may turn out to be rather useful... so thanks!

No-maybe-kinda- I sometimes wish my scattered college newspaper staff was on the same page. Everyone's schedules are too different for staff meetings, but this could be promising...
Anyway, I've got to get to work on that entry, not to mention a few others, and oh yeah, 3 term papers, so it's been lovely...

Thoroughly updated, read through again, some corrections made, section for phpBB forums added, conclusion added.

Any other input? Or does anyone want to suggest that it might be just fine how it is?

Not sure about the other skins, but in Brunel, it's a blue circle with a red exclamation mark inside. Are you thinking of the smiley?

In plain it is a red triangle like a road sign with a black exclamation mark on a white background.

It does read very well and entertaining. The only thing I see is the "fun" bit of somehow identifying the button in all it's various incarnations. Location and appearance, ...

Yes, that is an issue. Geez.
Well, there aren't too many other buttons in the bottom right corner, are there? I can just say "that button there" and leave it up to the reader to be intelligent enough to find it.
Or I can specify.
going to view this page in all skins.

Good grief! Brunel doesn't even have it on the bottom! I shall have to specify.
