A Conversation for Talking Point: Discrimination

In Denmark, there is a rule about womens rights, declaring that a certain number (percentage) of women should be employed into public offices, councils and the like.
Personally, and as a woman, I feel this is one of the biggest "rubbish"-rules in Denmark. If there are, say, 5% women and 95% men who apply for an office, then I find it grossly unreasonable to employ 50% women and 50% men - IMHO that makes for a far too big part of the women to be less qualified than many of the men. Statistically speaking.
And if I was hired for a job, simply because I was a woman and the employer had to meet a certain quota, I would most definitely feel discriminated. (Just as I think most men do by this rule, but due to historic male dominans, men don't dare to speak too much up about it.)
Anyways - if a couple is divorced in Denmark, the man has to pay allowance to the woman. The other way around is rarely seen. Is that equal right to both sexes? I think not.

Man are rarely given custody due to the fact that too many family court judges (male and female) think that women are automatically the best carers for their children.
When I was at school I knew a lot of children whose father's where the ones taking and collecting them from school.

Hehe, det er da dejligt at møde andre Dansker på det store Net.
Nå, men det er da...um, sorry. Got carried away. Yeah, it's really stupid that law. But remember that there is something as 'negative' discrimination which is equally bad. In Switzerland where I live the women has to pay twice as much in taxes than the men. And the last canton (kinda like states in the US, if you will) where women got voting rights was in 1991. No kidding. It seems the world has gone from where women are weak creatures who has to be protected by men to where women are beats that men should not even dare to touch without permission (not meaning any offence of course).
Just try and balance the 'negative' and 'positive' discrimination. Or better just don't have it at all. We should be able to live in a society were all people are equal. At least equal enough.

-Which just brings us back to my point: Women being treated something nice, just because they are women, are in fact being subjected to the worst possible prejudice.
I don't want to get a job, just because I have a vagina in stead of a penis. It shouldn't be the determining factor in regard of my ability to do my job! (Lest, off course, my job WAS, hrmh... Well... You get the idea, I'm sure. But that is NOT my job.)
Did I really say that?
Anyho, let's just judge people by what they are - people! Not by sex, colour, religion or otherwise. (This simple task is, seemingly, one of the hardest for mankind to accomplish! )

But women usually don't complain when they get better treatment than men, whereas the opposite really gets them going.

True, true...
The thing is that it's much more accepted (in this part of the world) when women unite in single-sex organizations or to obtain something special for their sex only - than if men (woa!) were to do the same!
During my education, there were Womens Club and Female Evening. When my boyfriend entered the same education, they were a bunch wo made Male Evenings. This was, naturally (?), frowned somewhat at. Chauvinist pigs...
