"Zagreb is the first pseudo american"
That's typical of your attitude. "Agree with me or you're one of them" (bit like "you're with us or with the terrorists"). I'm not pro-American. You can trawl through the archives of this site and find my arguments with two-bit about Hiroshima and the International Criminal Court if you want evidence. What I am not is anti-American. I don't think the US and it's citizens are the devil incarnate, nor (as a European) am I going to pretend that I don't get my first world lifestyle from my country playing the same hypocritical game as the US plays. America isn't all good or all evil, it just is. It's just another world power.

"Have you been blind to hollywood for 20 years?"
Platoon? Born on the Fourth of July?
As far as I know, there's only been one pro-Vietnam war film made. John Wayne's "The Green Berets" a very transparent piece of propaganda. There have been numerous Vietnam films that have focussed on the ordinary soldiers (inevitably American. Hollywood is a US-based industry after all) in a non-judgemental manner. Judging by your labelling me a "pseudo American" I'd imagine you'd regard any film that isn't devestatingly anti-war as "gung-ho propaganda" as some idiots did with the commendably unjingoistic "Black Hawk Down".

I see you miss what's relevant to pick on six words. I call you that because increasingly I canot tell the difference. You dismiss people who dissagree as anti-american and you're using the old phrases such as bringing up the phantoms who who supposidly cry foul about america becomming isolationist.
"Agree with me or you're one of them" - you describe yourself well.

"I'd imagine you'd regard any film that isn't devestatingly anti-war as "gung-ho propaganda" as some idiots did with the commendably unjingoistic "Black Hawk Down"."
And again you prove my point. Which is dismissal as anti-american of someone who dissagrees.

There's no phantoms about it. I read it as commentary in the newspaper.
There's a difference between genuine concerned criticism and anti-Americanism and I like to think I can distinguish between the two. Incidentally, I've never insinuated that anyone who is against a war (or any action) in Iraq is "on Saddam's side" (as lazy right-wing commentators would and have) as it wouldn't be true. So the "describe yourself well" thing doesn't wash.

Well, you did call me views "pseudo-American" which suggests you see things in a fairly "black and white" way.

Well stop pussy footing and make some distinction. Unless you're afraid of not being able to back out of your statements.

Try paying attention Or are you deliberatly misinterpreting what's being said?
You insinuate that people who dissagree with you are anti-american, before it was 'do nothing' and you backed out of that one.

Do try and keep up, I replied to this before you said it

For those of you who may be interested, the gist of the post (aside from what caused the tantrum)
--------
Subcom - "Do you remember any liberals specifically who expressed their anger at Bush's isolationism? An article or book or link that you could give to back up this claim?"
I've lost count of the number of times I've challenged someone who's made the claim. No one has ever 'backed up' their claim.
Something promising about the inspection team. They have qualified people (pro war people avert your eyes, I know how much you hate your beliefs challenged )
" Dr Blix also mentioned the work for the inspection programme of Don McIver, former Army chief and head of the Security Intelligence Service."

Subcom doesn't agree with me on some points and I've never called him (as far as I know) "anti-American". Probably because his arguments are well-laid out and invite discussion rather than slagging matches.
When did I back out of the "do nothing" thing?

Let's not be too tough on our own ignorance. It's the thing that makes America great. If America weren't incomparably ignorant, how could we have tolerated the last eight years?

here's something you left out - he *is* american
*and* he does make sense.
But that's what you do. You labell people without mentioning name (apart from Uber red who hasn't been here for ages - read safe). See pussy-footing a few post back. Again I must say 'keep up'
Is your tantrum over now? (It was just six words) Can we get back to the thread?

That's what I wondered when you said the US had "learned humility." Is being humiliated the same as learning humility? The US has gone through some humbling experiences, but I don't know if any lessons were absorbed from the experiences by its leaders.

That's disinginuous Subcom. They learned not to pick on anyone who can give them a fair fight.
