for all the info & advice.
I think that 12K thing must be the problem, it's really not a lot, is it? & seeing as it only informs you of the 50K limit any poor soul "waiting for it to load" is in danger of being fossilized first.
As for contacting Telewest, that's a job only for those with "special patience & tolerance" now that they've abandoned Customer Services & taken up the art of comedy! I've often considered compiling a list of all the inept statements their phoneys have offered, perhaps my favourite was when one cheery but hapless employee claimed that a fault "might go right all by itself"!?
Am I ranting again?
The library thing sounds like the "proper" thing to do, even if it is a chore that defeats the whole purpose of having a TV email system. I just don't understand why they scrimp on memory for that while other things (like this site etc) can be accessed with (relative) ease.
Oh well, thanks again.

I sometimes think that access to this site is the ONLY thing that keeps me using telewest. Nothing against their excellent CS department though.

12K isn't very much at all. The web standards used to advise that a page shouldn't exceed 50K - which may be where TeleWest got that figure. I can't account for the 12K at the moment but the h2g2 graphics are supposed to be allowed up to 20K each - which easily exceeds your limit.

Maybe it is 20k then. How long since was this the standard?

20K has been the CA limit since there was one (ie last summer) but could well have been used by the BBC staff as a guideline before that. There are notable exceptions though with really big photographs being uploaded into the site "blob" database (eg lots of seagulls just recently).

I've not tried putting really big photographs into email, but image grabs from hootoo load instantaneously. Whereas attachments don't even load at all sometimes.
I'll try it though, once I find the blob number.

The bird photo at B4217901 is saying it is nearly 165K. You might not want to risk that. The flying gull at B4214302 is 94K. This countryside image is only about 25K B4214841. It will take a while to find enough sizes in between. I think I'll pootle off to bed instead.

I have called the customer service for T.West and i do think
they are haveing aSome times.but to be far to them you are only aloud about 45 seconds per each call to be affective in dealing with complaints you need to go through different options first you can tell when the time is up they talk at 55 miles a hour
No problem
