Quite a bit of information here, which I appreciated. However, I found the discussion of A B and C sugars a bit confusing, because I wasn't sure what the difference between them was (i.e. why some sugar would be boiled differently than others).

Also, I think this entry would work nicely in GuideML, so that you can use headers and footnotes. Be careful of too many parentheses--they tend to interrupt the flow of the piece. Consider working the information into the main text or an occasional footnote.

Thanks for your comment, been trying to figure out how to put in pictues
A sugar, is first bite of cherry, so alot os sucrose is available for crystallization
B sugar, is second go at cherry, not as much sucrose, so takes longer to boil
C sugar, Not much sucrose left so takes even longer to get viable crystal
After this point it is no longer economic to remove more sucrose from the molasses
It goes around in a circle on the pan stage,I have tried to break it down to the absolute basics, but perhaps I'm failing somehow to make myself clear,I will keep thinking on this.

out of curiosity, you refer to sugar cane in your entry.

does the same process happen with sugar beet, or does that use a different process?

The process once the beets have been crushed is the same, however I don't know how beets are crushed or what is done with left over fibre.
Beets are not grown in Australia.

true, but they are grown elsewhere, and nothing in the entry seems to imply it is about sugar production in australia.

a minor comment about how the process is similar after pulping for sugar beets (mentioned in a footnote) would keep the generality.

well done.

There is only one thing worse than being Gosho, and that is not being Gosho

Nice looking entry so far, and I'm keen to see how it progresses. I was a sugar boiler for almost six years - I used to make everything from fondant to pear drops to honeycomb to toffee smiley - tongueout

I believe that there's an industrial disease amongst sugar plantation and refinery workers called baggasosis which is caused by loose fibres from the baggasse, in much the same way that asbestos causes asbestosis. I don't know if you feel that's worth mentioning?

Well done smiley - biggrin

Baggasosis it caused by old baggasse that has gone mouldy, any person working aroung old bagasse is advised to use a face mask. It can cause a chronic lung infection that can lead to symptoms similar to asbestosis but is extemly rare

This is an entry with potential! smiley - smiley

I learned heaps! But please describe the pan stage smiley - grovel and just about every post you've made in this conversation needs to be included in the entry, and someone's gonna have to put it in guideML so you can use footnotes.

Thanks Badzen
The pan stage is complicated
Once my work slows up I will have time to put this entry into GuideML
Not sure though how to make the pan stage easier to understand
