Si vous plait will you tell me the words of the Fraire Jacques. It was one of the first nursery rhymes I learnt and one of the first songs I learnt on the piano. I can still even remember how to play it even without a manuscript.

Frere Jacques... yep, no problem... an easy one as i remember the lyrics...

Here we go:

"Frere Jacques, Frere Jacques,
Dormez-vous? Dormez-vous?
Sonnez les matines, sonnez les matines
Ding ding dong, ding ding dong."


Roughly translated in english it would be:

"Brother Jack, Brother Jack,
Are you sleeping? are you sleeping?
Ring the morning bells , ring the morning bells
Ding ding dong, ding ding dong."

The official english version says "Brother John" for some unknown reasons tho'...

I'm fine.. Getting used to work late now... All i need to do is to make use of the travelling time for some thinking/writing/etc for some of the projects on h2g2 and then i will have the best of both worlds...

It's a good idea and very efficient way to learn a language through songs.. It is actually advised to teach young kids french songs to help them learn the language... Obviously the same can be done with adults...

Opti... no problem... I'm glad you're still around...

I do hope to be able to be online more often [and hopefully be able to write some help pages about the French language ] but looking at my list of "things to do" having become huge, i will certainly spend most of my time first updating what i was supposed to update ages ago [] before visiting on a more regular basis the projects i'm involved with...

I might even work on a time table for people to know when i'm online [so that they don't think i'm ignoring them if i can't reply to their messages straight away], that's how bad it is at the moment... There are quite a few advantages of having a regular job/income but there sure are many inconveniences as well [especially if the working hours are of the unsocial kind]...

Anyway, talk soon everyone...
