The sad thing about the Darwin Awards is that the creators are not very dilligent about proof. Several Urban Legends are considered 'proved' by DA, simply because they've been run in newspapers one time or another. So, although DA is fun and entertaining, if you want to know if amazing stories are actually based in reality you have to go to a different store. I recommend http://www.snopes.com and http://www.straightdope.com

yeah, i know they're a bit shaky on the proof thing. you know the one about the kid and the harvester machine? the story that won a darwin, but was later found out to be a hoax? ah well... at least it makes for great entertainment...
