A really informative entry.
I would also like to add to this.
Caesarean surgery in child-birth cases was also advocated by Sushruta, and Indian surgeon who lived in 6th Century BC. He explained many of his surgical methods including Caesarean surgery and even plastic surgery, in his book Sushruta Samhita. He's one of the earliest surgeons in recorded history.
