A Conversation for Bad Habits and How to Stop Them

Yes, this is a bad habit. And the easiest way to give it up is through distraction and avoidance. Think about something else, don't go into shops, don't allow anyone you work/live with to eat it in front of you (there's not much you can do about strangers, so try not to attack them).

I managed to not have any smiley - choc for weeks without thinking about it much, then they had a meeting in the office yesterday and supplied chocolate! I managed to avoid pigging myself and only succumed to one wagon wheel, but since then all I've thought about is having some more. Have a smiley - tea, brush your teeth, anything to stop your mouthwatering for the taste is good. I must stop talking about it now, as it's not helping at all. smiley - drool

Tsk, what happened to the BBC no biscuits ban?

I think the best way to avoid stuff like chocolate bars is to try and get into enjoying healthy alternatives (there's a good article on this somewhere). Eat fruit, good quality sandwiches, olives, sundried tomatoes, and things like that. That way, you won't get so hungry, and junk food will start to taste like junk in comparison. I sometimes get halfway through a chocolate bar and then realise it's discusting, tasteless junk.

Of course, then you just get into buying good quality chocolate instead if you're not careful.

It doesn't help when Researchers send enormous bars of smiley - choc to the person sitting opposite me. smiley - cross

There's nowt wrong with a bit of decent quality chocolate now and then. Everything in moderation and all that. I would reckon you're much better off having a chocolate bar than a junk food snack.

Chocolate is good for you! It must be! It all comes from plants! smiley - biggrin And it's got milk in it, which is even better!

good quality dark chocolate is a mild antioxidant, like vitamin C, and there's chemicals in chocolate that do stuff to your brain chemistry to physically make you happy. so it's not all that bad for you, and the better quality it is the less fat and artificial junk it has, so set a budget, only eat a little at a time, and be glad you can rationalize it! smiley - biggrin
