I'm currently writing my Dad's memoirs who was a boy living in Kenya during the War. It's a different perspective on World War II that I had never before considered. He used to help out at the airfields, repairing the planes and some of the stories he heard were very entertaining and it sounds like they were all a bit like Dads Army in the early days of the war. Would appreciate it if any one else had similar stories of living in Kenya during the war.

My Mum meanwhile was left at boarding school in England for the whole of the war as her parents, who also lived in Kenya, were unable to visit England while the war was on. To this day she doesn't care what she eats because during the war she had to get used to eating whatever was available1
