Join the Q: Meet Greenbottle

Greenbottle

Recently I was out and about on a warm sunny day, and I encountered a brightly-coloured flying insect that followed me round for a while. When it landed on a convenient clump of vegetation, I was able to take a photo of it gleaming in the sunlight.

My camera was able to get a good close-up view of the iridescent green/bronze of the fly, its bronze-coloured eyes and its transparent shiny wings.

This is a cousin of the Bluebottle, and is aptly named a Greenbottle!
