They're not great. Episode III is half decent when you compare it to the other prequels, but it lacks all the charm of the first trilogy.
You could watch them. All you'll really lose is an afternoon.

I cannot watch the prequels. I've tried. I fall asleep every time (regardless of which one it is)...Also, I thought VI was a little weak compared to IV and V. Still quite enjoyable, but not nearly as good as the first two.
