A few don'ts

A very good piece but there are a few things to avoid when feeding birds -
Any thing salty which can kill them including bacon rinds
Dry foods like dry rice and descicated coconut
Don't put out bread during the nesting season as adults will feed it to chicks and choke them
It is also important to keep tables and feeders clean to prevent infections and keep food off the ground so you don't encourage rodents.
Tables and feeders need to be placed so that birds can see any cats or other predators trying to creep up on them
As for keeping squirrels off of feeders that is a whole story in itsself
