ODE for TED

Alan Cole said he would not pay
Funeral costs in the usual way.
The plywood coffin was home-made,
On top of his car it was laid.
His older brother had just died,
The coffin had his corpse inside.
Alan said, "Ted would be so pleased
Not wasting cash on the deceased."
His final trip on a Passat,
A sight for his old mates to gawp at.
They stopped at the pub for a toast,
"It's cheap and cheerful," was the boast.
"Funeral mafia had to know,
'Do it yourself', can keep costs low."
