Oh I say, this is quite the spiffy little bit, eh, wot!
Must say, however, I find your lack of concern that the mother tongue is wagging freely without restraint of regard for form just a tad bit disconcerting.
But, I have no doubt that Auntie Beeb still administers a 'pronunciation test' to all applicants for 'on-air' positions. So we can rest assured that some 'control standards', however gentle, are still being applied.

This was actually one of the very first things i wrote on h2, when i discovered the site in Sept 01 - i only recently decided to put them up for PR, and i'm not sure i ever *really* finished it (or the other 2 linguistics pieces). Jack Naples deservers considerable credit for the subbing job, in fact.
