We had a draughtman who used to come in late every morning and one Xmas we sellotaped thirty party poppers to the underside of his desk and carefully tied all the cords together and attached them to his chair which was slid under his desk.
On the big day he got in (not noticing the 20 or so additional people hanging around the office) and pulled his chair out.
There was a thuderous explosion - the party poppers went up in the air showering the office with streamers - the victim went up in the air - and the plastic bag containing his sandwiches and his thermos went sailing across the office as well. very funny
