Munch was indeed a genius if he painted The Scream before his first birthday, as you say in this article.

I blame the sub-ed, he should have caught that. 
A quick check reveils that 'the scream' was created in 1893. (I almost wrote 1963! I need a vacation. ) This will undoubtedly be fixed shortly.
