What is Scotch treacle?

The Thar cake mentions Scotch Treacle in the recipe, but not in the ingredients. Is it the same stuff as black treacle? Would you describe Golden Syrup as 'light treacle'? I like treacle tart myself 
, and make that with golden syrup.
