Great article, but if I may be pedantic for just a second... 
With regards to the other actors who appeared in the show, the Scottish Jewish comedian ("two racial stereotypes for the price of one!") was Arnold Brown, not Arthur Brown. The Crazy World Of Arthur Brown had a number one hit in 1968 with "Fire", but as far as I'm aware he never appeared on The Young Ones...

Actually, you can hear the beginning of "Fire" in BORING, when Ftumch and Orgo are torturing the guy in hell. "I am the god of hell fire! And I bring you..."
And also, being pedantic, it's "Rik." Not "Rick."

The entry is correct - it's Rik Mayall, but Rick in the series. With a silent P in the episode were they did Uni challenge.

...it's "Rik" Mayall, but the character's name is "Rick" with a C... as you can see in the University Challenge sketch where somebody has written a P in front of RICK on the desk...
