"She Blinded me with Science", Dolby's most well known song came in at number 20 on VH1's 100 top one hit wonders show a year or two ago. http://www.vh1.com/shows/series/100_greatest/one_hit_wonders/list_20-1.jhtml

A little unfair as he also scored pretty well with 'Hyperacrive' and 'Airhead'.
Maybe not the world's greatest chart presence, but certainly more than a one hit wonder, I'd suggest.

Good point. I disagreed with a lot of that list myself. I think that Devo was somehting more than a one hit wonder myself.
I wonder if The Toy Dolls might count with Nellie the Elephant

Toy Dolls, yes. I saw an off shoot of theirs regular in Sunderland. Wonderful pub entertainment, including punk covers of Gerry Anderson Themes.
I'd think that you'd be lucky to find that Devo ever had a hit in the Uk. But that may just be me. I certainly wouldn't put them in as one hit wonders. Chart success was *never* their aim.
Mind you. I'd guess writing music for kids cartoons wasn't either...

Nellie the Elephant was a big alternative hit on one station in Salt Lacke City, Utah but I do not know how popular it was outside of SLC much less in the UK.

Have you ever heard them do "Olga crack corn"? That was a riot.

Can't say I have, but the fact that it presumably is a punk rock cover of a traditional song rather than one of their own, speaks volumes about their lack of long term success I'd wager.

It is a cover of sorts. Johhny crack corn is a folk song in the US, and they kind of covered it... sort of.. Hard to explain.

On the subject of novelty bands from Sunderland... A Tribe of Toffs had a hit with 'John Kettley is a Weatherman'
