A Conversation for Great Film Locations
New Zealand
Jerms - a Brief flicker and then gone again. Started conversation Nov 3, 2003
It would be worth mentioning at this point that quite a lot of the scenery in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, especially in the Queenstown area, has become famously noted in many other countries for many other reasons...
Recently a famous NZ actor currently living in London opened his local newspaper to find an ad for a tourist location somewhere in the UK (I forget where), with a prominent photo of the hills above Queenstown, New Zealand. The article which I read, mentioning this event also pointed out that New Zealand scenery has been used to advertise tourism in other countries many times before, including (if I remember rightly) on Italy's main tourism website, among others.
If you've got it, flaunt it. If you don't got it, flaunt it even more!
